Home/Use cases/Add Captions to TikTok Videos Online

Add captions to a TikTok without hiding them under the app.

Prepare the vertical clip before TikTok: generate the transcript, correct every line, use the TikTok interface overlay for placement, and export one finished MP4.

What matters

A caption can be accurate and still be unreadable

TikTok covers parts of the frame with the description, handle, action rail, and top navigation. The editor's TikTok overlay helps you see those approximate regions while positioning the caption.

How it works

  1. 01

    Bring the source video

Upload the clip from your device instead of connecting a TikTok account or pasting a public link.

  2. 02

    Generate, then read

Correct names, slang, numbers, punctuation, and line breaks while the words are still editable.

  3. 03

    Choose 9:16 and TikTok

Set a vertical canvas, enable the TikTok safe-area overlay, and move the caption away from interface regions.

  4. 04

    Download and publish

Render the MP4, check it in TikTok's current upload preview, and post through your normal workflow.

Built for the correction after generation.

Position against the real clip

Move and resize captions on the uploaded footage so faces, product details, and existing on-screen text remain visible.

TikTok interface guidance

Approximate overlay zones show where the app commonly places its caption area, action controls, and top bar.

Word-level timing

Styles can react to the word being spoken while the underlying transcript remains available for correction.

Preview before the paywall

Every style can be previewed. Free export is limited to Clean Minimal and Documentary, with premium effects available on Starter.

No product watermark

Both plans export the finished captioned video without an Auto Subtitle Generator mark in the frame.

Sidecar files from the same edit

Take SRT, VTT, or TXT when the transcript also needs to move into an archive, web player, or another publishing tool.

Caption before upload, or inside TikTok?

The useful choice is about control and handoff, not a claim that one route is always better.

Prepare first for repeatable design

Burned-in text keeps the same font, color, emphasis, and placement when the MP4 is reused on another platform.

Use TikTok for the shortest native workflow

If the video will live only on TikTok and its in-app caption controls meet the job, editing there may involve fewer steps.

Review automatic words either way

Names, accents, overlapping speech, and background noise can cause errors. Read the whole transcript before publishing.

Keep the interface in view

A reusable burned-in layout still needs platform-specific placement. Turn on TikTok's overlay, then verify against TikTok's live preview.

What this is not built to do.

It is a caption editor and exporter for a source file, not a TikTok account utility.

  • Download or edit an existing TikTok

The uploader accepts a local source video. It does not fetch videos from a TikTok URL or remove another creator's watermark.

  • Publish or schedule the post

There is no TikTok login, posting integration, or scheduler. The output is a file for you to upload.

  • Guarantee one permanent safe zone

TikTok interface elements vary with device, format, caption length, and app changes. The overlay is guidance, not a platform guarantee.

Questions before upload

Can I paste a TikTok URL?+

No. Start from the source video file on your device. The tool does not download or copy an existing TikTok.

Does this upload directly to TikTok?+

No. Download the finished MP4 and upload it through TikTok or your existing publishing workflow.

What canvas should I choose?+

TikTok's published creative guidance recommends a full-screen 9:16 vertical frame. The editor includes that canvas option.

How does the TikTok safe-area overlay work?+

It marks approximate regions commonly covered by TikTok's interface. Position the caption outside them and verify the final upload preview because the live UI can differ.

Are all caption styles free to export?+

All styles can be previewed. Clean Minimal and Documentary can be exported on Free; premium effects require Starter.

Are burned-in captions closed captions?+

No. Burned-in captions are part of the video pixels and cannot be turned off. Closed captions remain a separate track controlled by the player.
